28 companies will be created or developed through the Economic Discharge Programme (PARE 1 + 1), managed by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME). Migrant workers or relatives in grade 1 will receive up to RON 250 in non-reimbursable funding from the European Union (EU).

The owners of businesses located in 17 districts of the country signed grant contracts for a total amount of RON 6.73 million today, 21 June. The entrepreneurial activity of the 28 companies indicates that generate investment cumulative in the economy of around RON 17 million they will provide 69 jobs.

Present at the event, Vadim BRÎNZAN, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure welcomed the diaspora’s interest in returning to and investing in the Republic of Moldova. “The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure will support support support instruments that have demonstrated their viability over time and are aimed at citizens in both the country and the diaspora to harness their entrepreneurial potential at home”, said Vadim BRÎNZAN. At the same time, the new minister stressed that he was a migrant and that the PARE 1 + 1 programme would continue to provide support to citizens going abroad to return home and add value to the national economy.

Iulia Costin, State Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure reiterated the opening and continuous support of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure for the small and medium-sized enterprise sector to stimulate the initiation and development of profitable business in the Republic of Moldova.

Of the total number of applicants for non-repayable financial support, 20 are active in agriculture, a further 6 will be in the field of service provision and 2 in industry.

The business ideas proposed by migrants will be realised in 17 districts of the Republic of Moldova and a beneficiary of the Programme is from the municipality of Chisinau. Of the 28 businesses approved for non-repayable financial support, 11 are start-ups and 17 are in the scale-up phase. Beneficiaries will invest remittances from 10 states: Belgium, the Federation of Russia, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania and Spain ", said Acting Director of ODIMM Petru Gurgurov.

At the same time, 9 businesses are initiated or run by women and 7 will be run by young people.

Since the beginning of this year, 1 more investment projects have been approved under the PARE 1 + 65 programme. In 2019, RON 1 million from the state budget was planned for the implementation of the ‘PARE 1 + 40’ programme. At the same time, for the period from 01 June 2019 to 31 May 2020, the European Union planned an additional RON 15 million under the ‘Support for small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas’ programme.

The government programme “PARE 1 + 1” is implemented by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector with the financial support of the European Union. It aims to mobilise the human and financial resources of Moldovan migrant workers in the sustainable economic development of the Republic of Moldova by stimulating the creation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises by migrant workers and recipients of remittances. The programme operates under the ‘1 + 1’ algorithm, so that each leu invested from remittances is replaced by a grant leu. The amount of the grant is up to RON 250 000.
