And the priority mission of the central public authorities is to develop new policies and programmes for the expansion of this infrastructure in all regions of the country. Referring to the components of the Programme, Sergiu Railean mentioned that the 16 multifunctional industrial platforms will be created in districts with a low level of industrialisation, where there is no business or industrial infrastructure, such as Industrial Parks or Free Economic Zones, and their development will take several steps.

“The first phase provides for the identification of land for the construction of the platforms, following the connection to public utilities. The administration, development and operation of the MIP will be ensured directly by the Local Public Authority at levels 1 and 2 or through a public institution founded by it. The programme will be implemented over a period of 36 months with the possibility of extension. The pilot programme will be implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME), funded annually from the state budget and external resources. RON 50 million will be allocated to the creation of the infrastructure of multifunctional industrial platforms this year ", said Sergiu Railean.

Present at the event, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated that the aim of the meeting is to provide local public authorities with answers to all questions related to the development phases of multifunctional industrial platforms in those 16 districts, access to the allocated budget, preparation of documentation for land use, attracting investments, etc.

“We are aware that without industrialising the country, without creating opportunities for potential investors to launch productions, we will continue we are dependent on agriculture, climate and will continue to export wheat and source high value-added products from abroad. The aim of the meeting is to provide clarity, to understand in every district what and how to do it, in order to capitalise on the 50 million lei provided for by the Government, as 4 months remained until the end of the year, and it is important to be able to achieve everything we planned at the initial stage, "said Ion Chicu.

Director General ODIMM, Iulia Costin highlighted that Multifunctional Industrial Platforms will help increase the competitiveness, productivity, employment of the industrial sector in the country’s regions.

“The creation process is to be carried out in 3 key steps: defining the policy framework, identifying and selecting potential MIPs, developing the concept, creating the infrastructure and of course developing the institutional capacities of MIPs. Actions to set up platforms will certainly be carried out at the same time, others consecutively, in cooperation with several key national, regional and local actors”.

At the end of the event, APL representatives addressed questions to the relevant authorities related to the implementation of the Programme.
