Invested in the education of children in the region
They studied and trained in pedagogy and psychology and later put them into practice as part of their own business. Eugenia Caracaș together with his brother-in-law Mariana, they launched a Personal Development Centre for Children in the city of Calarasi. These they returned home from the UK to offer a better future to children here. In addition to the school programme, pupils from Calarasi have the opportunity to engage in other extracurricular activities at the Centre, a service that did not exist in the region until now. Here they attend courses in English, German, robotics, arithmetic club, personal development workshops, etc. At the same time, language learning is also accessible for adults.
The European Union has contributed enormously to the implementation of a new course at the Centre. More specifically, the entrepreneur received non-repayable funding through The Women in Business Programme, managed by ODIMM. Thanks to the grant, he managed both to procure all the tools needed for the robotics course and to equip the space with other devices needed for the educational activity. Thanks to EU funding, the two co-founders undertook accounting and copywriting courses to manage and promote their businesses effectively.
During the pandemic period, the more than 200 children the Călărași district has been left without access to the Centre’s activities. Only the English lessons were held online. Although their work was affected, during the same period they managed to make some purchases from the grant received and to set up the classrooms, and in September they returned to strength and resumed all activities.
Regardless of the challenges, Eugenia goes ahead. And the EU support gave him confidence that what does it do well and has the chance to invest in children’s education from home. In the future, it aims to set up branches in other parts of the country to give every child the chance to develop their skills and choose the future of tomorrow.
The Women in Business programme was launched in autumn 2016 with the objective of promoting the economic and social ability of women in rural areas by reducing gender inequality, business growth and development, changing the perception of innovation, increasing access to resources, services and technologies. The programme is financed from the state budget and co-financed by EU funds.
